Weddings at First United Methodist Church Massillon are scheduled by contacting  the church office at 330-833-8529  or at fumc@sssnet.com and making an appointment with the pastor.  Available dates may be checked or scheduled by telephone or email, but will only be scheduled  with the approval of the pastor.  Half of the total fees must be paid to the church within 60 days of your scheduling. The second half of the fees must be paid not later than two weeks prior to the wedding date.

There are two areas for weddings:

  • The Chapel which will seat up to 50, with an electronic organ or and an upright piano.
  • The Sanctuary with a center aisle, pipe organ, baby grand piano and stained glass windows will accommodate  to 650 guests.

A Reception area is also be available but there is no smoking and no alcohol allowed.  The area is carpeted.

Weddings may be scheduled up to two years in advance.

Members have priority for scheduling. For the purpose of this policy, “member” means the bride or groom, parents, or grandparents of the bride or groom are members of FUMC.  To be considered a “Member” also means that you have been a member of FUMC for a minimum of six months at the time of scheduling.

We do welcome, accept and schedule weddings for Non-Members, however we do require that the wedding be performed by the clergy of FUMC.

Weddings are scheduled based upon the availability of the facility and the clergy.  Previously scheduled church functions and activities have priority.

Weddings and/or rehearsals, are not routinely scheduled on holiday weekends or on Sundays.

We have a wedding coordinator who assists the pastor and the wedding party in rehearsing and conducting the wedding.

PRE-MARRIAGE COUNSELING

Pre-marriage counseling is a requirement of all who wish to be married at First United Methodist Church Massillon.  All clergy at FUMC are trained and have experience providing pre-marriage counseling.  Couples planning to be married should discuss their arrangements for pre-marriage counseling with the clergy person officiating at their wedding.  Such pre-marriage counseling must be completed before the wedding date.

We are pleased to provide you with the best quality in everything we do. So, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and let us discuss how we could be of service to you.
